Cedefop/Photomuseum Award
The Cedefop / Photomuseum Award was first established by the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography in collaboration with Cedefop, the European Agency for the development of professional education and training in the European Union as part of the 19th International Photography Meeting in 2007.
The Cedefop/Photomuseum Award is an international award which revolves around the notion of work and education or training for work and aims at collecting works with social content and interest. As part of the prize Cedefop and the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography offer to each winner 5.000 euros and produce his exhibition. In 2007 the first prize was awarded to Sirio Magnabosco (b.1980, Italy) for the series of photographs entitled "The Wait" and the show of his awarded works took place at the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during the Photobiennale / 20th International Photography Meeting (April-May 2008). A distinction was given to Marc Curran (Ireland) and to Ingar Krauss (Germany). In 2008 during the Photobiennale / 20th International Photography Meeting (April-May 2008) the first prize was given to Myrto Papadopoulos (b. 1978, Greece) for the series of photographs entitled "Out on a limb". Heiko Specht (Germany) and Ralf Tooten (Thailand) were given the second and third positions accordingly.
